INSIDE-CoVE’s Second German Multiplier Event Brings Digital Learning to Life in Neuwied
On 17 September 2026, the INSIDE-CoVE Curriculum Lab welcomed vocational learners, teachers, trainers, industry representatives, education providers, and project partners to David-Roentgen-Schule in Neuwied, Germany. Organised as the project’s second multiplier event in Germany, the hybrid event offered participants the opportunity to explore innovative approaches that connect vocational education with real occupational practice.
Under the theme“Experience Learning Labs, Develop Skills, Shape the Future,” the event began with a welcome from David-Roentgen-Schule and an introduction to the INSIDE-CoVE project. Participants were then invited to shape their own learning journey by selecting from six practical workshops delivered across four parallel rounds.
The workshops addressed a diverse range of digital and sustainability-related topics relevant to vocational education and the construction and HVAC sectors. Participants explored how subject-specific artificial intelligence can support trainees and teachers in their everyday professional activities, while another session demonstrated the use of digital tools for systematic fault diagnosis.
Further workshops introduced virtual reality as an immersive learning environment for leak detection in refrigeration and air-conditioning systems, as well as interactive learning modules covering the structure, operation, and diagnosis of refrigeration compressors. Participants also discovered how modern surveying technologies can transform analogue site measurements into digital space capture and 3D models. The thermal-imaging workshop demonstrated how heat losses can be identified and how this technology can contribute to assessing the energy efficiency of buildings.
The flexible workshop format enabled participants to engage directly with the technologies, exchange experiences, and select the sessions most relevant to their interests. The programme concluded with a plenary discussion, feedback, an outlook on future activities, and next steps.
The event demonstrated the importance of hands-on, digitally supported learning environments in preparing vocational learners and educators for changing skills needs. By bringing together education and professional practice, the INSIDE-CoVE Curriculum Lab contributed to the project’s wider objective of strengthening sustainable and innovative excellence in construction vocational education
