BUILD YOUR FUTURE: First Spanish Multiplier Event Highlights New Skills for a Sustainable Construction Sector

On December 10, 2025, the Aula Magna of the Escuela Técnica Superior de Ingeniería de Edificación at Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV) hosted the first Spanish Multiplier Event of the INSIDE‑CoVE project. Titled “BUILD YOUR FUTURE: New Skills for a More Sustainable Sector”, the event brought together 100 participants, including 69 onsite attendees and 24 online participants, confirming strong national interest in innovation and sustainability within the construction ecosystem.

Organised by SGS and IVE and delivered in hybrid format, the session served as a dynamic platform to present project progress, discuss sectoral skills needs, and engage future professionals in shaping a more sustainable built environment. Moderation was provided by Alba Ponce and Cristina Jareño, ensuring a smooth and interactive flow throughout the programme.

Driving the Skills Agenda Forward

The event opened with a welcome speech from the Director of IVE, who set the tone by emphasising the sector’s urgent need for sustainability‑oriented competencies. Immediately after, representatives Maritina (ΑΑΑ), Alba (SGS), and Cristina (IVE) introduced the INSIDE‑CoVE vision, showcasing project milestones and international opportunities emerging from Work Packages WP1 and WP2.

The presentation was followed by an overview of Work Package 6 (WP6) by SGS, highlighting the project’s dissemination and communication strategy and how it aims to maximise outreach at European level.

Exploring Circularity and Innovation

A series of short thematic talks addressed key topics shaping the future of construction:

  • “Do You Have What the Sector Needs?” – an exploration of evolving skill demands.
  • Mini Talk on Circular Construction – underlining the sector’s transition towards circular practices.
  • “From the Classroom to Success: MYKO” – an inspiring presentation by former UPV students, showcasing the innovative use of mycelium‑based materials for sustainable construction.
  • IDEAS UPV and IVE Tools – presenting pathways for students to transform ideas into real‑world applications.

To foster active participation, IVE introduced the Circularity Contest, an engaging initiative encouraging students to apply circular economy principles in construction‑related challenges.

A Space for Exchange and Engagement

Participants from a wide network, including universities, VET providers, industry representatives, certification bodies, and European umbrella organisations, contributed to open discussions around sustainability, innovation, and skills development.

An AMA (Ask Me Anything) session offered a direct channel for participants to interact with the organising teams, while the event concluded with a prize draw, giveaways, and a networking coffee break, strengthening connections among attendees and reinforcing the visibility of INSIDE‑CoVE.

Building a Sustainable Future Together

The first Spanish Multiplier Event successfully linked academia, industry, and vocational education stakeholders in a shared effort to prepare the next generation of professionals for the green transition. By showcasing innovation, promoting skill development, and engaging future talent, the event marked a significant milestone in INSIDE‑CoVE’s mission to reshape the construction sector through sustainability‑driven education.

The insights and enthusiasm generated in Valencia will continue to drive upcoming project actions, reinforcing collaboration and supporting the transformation toward a more circular and resilient built environment.
