From Needs to Action: INSIDE-CoVE Completes WP2 on Future-Ready Skills Mapping
The INSIDE-CoVE project has successfully completed Work Package 2 (WP2), a crucial milestone in our overarching mission to align European Vocational Education and Training (VET) with the construction sector’s urgent green and digital transitions.
This comprehensive phase was structured around four interconnected reports that provide a deep, evidence-based foundation for our upcoming curriculum design. The process began with the “Industry Needs Analysis (D2.1)”, engaging sectoral stakeholders to identify critical emerging competencies. This intelligence fed into “Skills and Competencies Map (D2.2)”, which translated these needs into structured, EQF-aligned Occupational Profiles. To ensure a holistic approach, the “Learner Needs Assessment (D2.3)” brought the trainees’ perspectives into focus, grounding our solutions in actual learner expectations and knowledge gaps. Finally, the “Gap Analysis Report (D2.4)” systematically compared these requirements against current VET provisions across five partner countries.
Together, the results of these deliverables culminated in the “Skill Code Matrix 2.0”. This robust, multi-dimensional framework categorizes essential competencies across four core pillars: Energy Efficiency, Circular Economy, Digitalization, and Transversal skills.
Our in-depth study revealed significant training deficits; notably, an average of 47% of the proposed matrix skills are not currently covered by existing VET programs. By pinpointing these exact gaps, WP2 has established a clear, data-driven direction. Moving forward, the Matrix 2.0 will act as our blueprint in WP3, guiding the development of flexible, learner-centred courses and modules that will equip the future construction workforce with the exact skills the industry demands.
