INSIDE-CoVE presented at the Antonio Iniesta Cineforum on building a safer future for construction
On 15 April 2026, INSIDE-CoVE was presented during the Antonio Iniesta Cineforum, held under the theme “Foundations of the past and present, building a safer future”. Organised by the Spanish National Institute for Safety and Health at Work (INSST), as the national reference centre of the European Agency for Safety and Health at Work (EU-OSHA), together with the Spanish Network for Safety and Health at Work (RESST), the event invited participants to reflect on the evolution of the construction sector through the short film Wishful Filming, winner of the 2025 Healthy Workplaces Film Award.
The cineforum format was designed to go beyond accident figures and statistics and to open a broader discussion on prevention culture in construction. The debate addressed how the sector combines traditional craft-based knowledge with advanced digital solutions, while also raising key issues such as workforce diversity, gender imbalance, the integration of occupational safety and health through digital tools, and the skills required for Construction 5.0.
During the discussion, Cristina Jareño Escudero, Architect at the Instituto Valenciano de la Edificación (IVE), introduced INSIDE-CoVE as a European project that is helping to shape the future of construction vocational education and training. INSIDE-CoVE — the International Network for Sustainable and Innovative Digital Excellence in Construction Vocational Education — brings together 26 partners from 6 EU countries in a 48-month collaboration to strengthen vocational excellence in the construction sector. The project is building Centres of Vocational Excellence in Greece, Spain, Germany and Ireland, with a strong focus on innovation, inclusion and alignment with industry needs.
The presentation highlighted how INSIDE-CoVE directly connects with the themes discussed during the cineforum. The project supports future-ready construction skills through innovative curricula, business-education alliances and digital learning approaches.
INSIDE-CoVE’s contribution to the event underlined a shared message: building a safer future for construction requires not only technological progress, but also investment in skills, collaboration and people-centred innovation across the whole sector.
