INSIDE‑CoVE and IVE Contribute to Construction Sustainability Session at Spanish VET Centre CIPFP El Palmeral

The INSIDE-COVE project was presented at the event entitled “Sustainability applied to the construction sector”,  organised by the Department of Building and Civil Engineering at the El Palmeral Integrated Public Vocational Training Centre (Centro Integrado Público de FP El Palmeral) on Friday, 30 January 2026.

The initiative brought together experts and specialised companies from the construction sector to analyse the environmental impact of construction activity and address the main strategies and solutions aimed at achieving a more sustainable model. During the conference, the focus was on the need to transform construction processes to reduce their ecological footprint and adopt more environmentally responsible practices. Some examples are:

The TAREVÉ spin-off demonstrated how they transform palm tree waste into eco-friendly insulation panels.

The ECOcero company manufactures acoustic panels from recycled plastic bottles.

As part of the programme, the Valencia Institute of Building (IVE) presented the tools that support students and professionals in applying sustainability to the construction sector. They also presented the INSIDE-COVE project, which focuses on skills and training for sustainability in construction.

Despite the sector’s growth, the session highlighted that construction continues to face major difficulties in attracting, retaining and upskilling qualified professionals.

IVE’s contribution also outlined the most in-demand competence areas currently shaping industry needs in Spain. Furthermore, INSIDE-CoVE presented future engagement opportunities for learners and training providers, including an upcoming summer school and a hackathon designed to promote hands-on learning and innovation aligned with real construction sector challenges.

Finally, IVE presented the Circularity Contest, which is also addressed to vocational training students in the construction sector. The contest was first introduced at the first Spanish Multiplier Event on 10 December 2025.

The event aimed to promote environmental awareness and sustainable innovation in vocational training, and was intended for students, teachers and professionals in the fields of building and civil engineering. It was part of a series of training activities.
